Chicago based developer and general contractor Focus, celebrated the topping-off of Evanston multifamily project, The Link Evanston on Friday February 15th, 2019. The Focus development and construction teams were joined by partner CA Ventures and other key stakeholders, tradesmen, and project leaders to celebrate the milestone with lunch followed by a short gathering onsite.
A joint venture between Focus and CA Ventures, the Link Evanston is a 280,000 SF project is located at 811 Emerson between Sherman and Maple Avenues. The nine-story tower will be the new home of 241 luxury apartments. Set in the heart of downtown Evanston, the Link is only a block from the Foster CTA Purple Line stop, a short walk from the Metra stop and steps from Northwestern. Units are designed with a modern open concept and features quartz countertops, Stainless steel appliances and in-unit washer dryer. The Link also boasts a full set of amenities including an exterior pool deck, fitness studio, and club room.
The Link Evanston presented challenges that brought out the best in our team. Any structure under 15 stories that must be non-combustible traditionally utilizes poured-in-place concrete, but this approach results in a loss of efficiency with mid-rise construction. Due to these restraints along with the rising cost of concrete, Focus chose the Diversakore system for the construction of Link Evanston. When utilized, this system can save significant costs in construction budgets. We were also the first to use this system in the Chicagoland area.
The Focus construction management team is led by Superintendent II Rich Czarnik and supported by Project Engineer Bhavin Pardiwala. The Link Evanston began leasing early this year and expects to open late summer 2019.
