Focus was selected as the general contractor for the ground-up construction of Noca Blu, an apartment building at 2340 North California in Chicago’s Logan Square. The 130,088 GSF, 6-story building is home to 138 luxury apartments in this vibrant Northwest side neighborhood. The ground floor includes a lobby, surface parking, and multiple retail spaces totaling approximately 9,200 SF. A mix of studio, one- to two-bedroom units occupy most of the building’s upper five floors. The building also offers such amenities as a fitness studio, an outdoor park and a rooftop terrace.
The construction of the building used a mix of different systems. The ground floor exterior comprised of glazed masonry and a thermally broken aluminum storefront system, while the upper floors included prefinished metal panels and high-quality, thermally efficient fiberglass windows.
Structurally, the first-floor podium consists of a steel frame and concrete deck, while the five floors above will be framed with structural light-gauge metal, with concrete decks poured over metal decking. The project took 15 months and is LEED certified.
