Last week was a first for Focus when we installed the pedestrian bridge which connects one side of the future Hawthorn Row to the other.
Joined by our trade partners, Waukegan Steel, LL and Layton Steel Erectors, Inc., teams first assembled the bridge on the ground where they temporarily enclosed the bridge in order to complete fireproofing while still on the ground. During that time, the team devised and approved their plan for erection and the necessary bracing plan. Once approved, teams lifted the bridge off the ground, rotated it into the correct position and slowly lifted it into place. In the above video, you can see multiple man lifts securing the bridge to it's support columns while suspended in midair.
