Local partner Revolution Workshop provides free skills training for locals seeking careers in the construction industry

The season of giving is almost upon us, and here at Focus, we are committed to positively shaping and supporting the communities where we develop and build. That’s why we’re so proud of our work with Revolution Workshop, a nonprofit that provides free skills training for unemployed or underemployed adults seeking a career in construction in Chicago.

The organization’s 10-12 week accredited program includes training in carpentry and woodworking, as well as job-readiness skills like financial literacy and interview preparedness. Revolution Workshop has graduated four cohorts of trainees in their first year, who average a starting wage of $17/hour and are employed as tradesmen and women across the city.

Focus has teamed up with Revolution Workshop in a multitude of ways throughout 2019 and most recently donated $25,000 to the organization in celebration of Focus’ 25 years in business. We will continue to be involved in several facets of Revolution Workshop, including marketing consulting, constructionsite visits, opportunities to interact with Focus site employees, mock interviews with Human Resources and construction professionals, and providing support for upcoming fundraisers and events.

We value our Chicago home and are proud to work with local non-profits that make a real difference in our community. To learn more about Revolution Workshop, click here.
