Chicago’s bustling Fulton Market is now home to a new 17-story office building, 167 Green, a joint venture by Focus and Shapack. The new tower is located on Lake Street between Green and Halsted—across the street from a previous joint venture, The Parker – Fulton Market.
The Gensler designed office tower totals over 750,000 GSF and offers an unparalleled set of amenities. The 17th-floor amenity suite includes a resort style fitness facility, lounge, rooftop patio with fire pits, and even a basketball court which doubles as a town hall space with capacity for 400. These exceptional amenities cement 167 Green's position as the first office building of its caliber to be built in Fulton Market.
The design focuses on walkability: the building rises above a pedestrian pathway, accessible from both Halsted and Green streets. The “mews” grants pedestrians access to 30,270 SF of retail space at the foot of the building and creates a new public space in a community that has lacked similar spaces in the past. With 595,861 SF of office space available for rent, the building offers sizable floorplates and 129 parking spaces. Current tenants include WeWork and CCC Information Technologies.
Enhance Communities
The 167 Green project contributes to the creation of public space in a neighborhood previously lacking it. Connecting Halsted and Lake streets, the pedestrian thoroughfare known as the “mews” gives pedestrians access to the building’s retail space via a new public walkway. Pocket parks combining retail, restaurants, and green space—like the one carved out here—have created community spaces in other neighborhoods and cities, and now Fulton Market will benefit.
