Soul City Church

Focus was tapped by Soul City Church as general contractor for an extensive addition and renovation of the church’s facility in Chicago’s West Loop neighborhood. In addition to the renovation of an existing building, the project included construction of a new, 45,000 GSF 3-story addition to the original structure.

The addition is a slab-on-grade, steel structure with insulated metal panel façade. Construction started in October 2016 and was completed in summer 2017. The addition included a new auditorium, covered parking, and office space for church staff.

As this project was for a church, the budget was conservative. Focus, however, was able to win this competitive bid against other general contractors by utilizing our proprietary Sightlines process, relying on our experience, ownership mentality, and local relationships to provide the value engineering necessary to bring the project within the constraints of the church’s budget.
