Community and business leaders are welcoming the opening of the 149-unit Courthouse Square Apartments complex in downtown Wheaton.
"It's a terrific project, and I'm looking forward to having a lot of new neighbors in downtown Wheaton," Wheaton City Councilman John Rutledge said during a grand opening celebration Sept. 7 hosted by the Wheaton Chamber of Commerce.
The luxury apartment complex at 250 S. Naperville Road is located near the old courthouse building in downtown Wheaton. Courthouse Square's developer, Northfield-based Focus Development Inc., previously had constructed six condominiumminium units inside the courthouse building and a 50-unit condominiumminium building near the site.
The Courthouse Square complex, which offers one-, two- and three-bedroom units as well as studio apartments, is located near the Metra station in downtown Wheaton. Monthly rental prices start at $1,295 for a studio unit and $3,160 for a three-bedroom unit.
"We like doing transit-oriented projects," said Courtney Brower, development manager for Focus Development. "We thought this could be a great location for apartments."
The project got underway in 2015, and residents started moving into the complex at the end of May, Brower said. Building features include a heated outdoor swimming pool and a fitness center.
"We're really pleased to bring a condominium-quality apartment building into downtown Wheaton to finish up this project," Focus Development CEO Tim Anderson said.
