1926 West Harrison is located in the heart of the Medical District, across the street from the newly renovated Cook County hospital. The Marquette owned development includes a full renovation of an existing 18-story apartment building with 272 units. The site offers easy access to the CTA Blue Line and is a short distance from Chicago’s loop.
The Brininstool & Lynch - designed renovation will total over 249,000 GSF and offers an unparalleled set of amenities and city views in all directions. The planned 19th-floor roof deck will include seating areas, grilling stations and a fire pit with unobstructed view to the East of the Chicago skyline. The 19th floor interior lounge will offer seating and a full kitchen for entertaining. The 1st floor amenity spaces will feature a fitness area, community kitchen, private workstations and meeting areas. The project also includes a large surface lot for residential parking.
1926 West Harrison was originally built in the early 1960s and is a unique combination of exterior pre-cast columns and interior poured in place floors and columns. As part of the renovation, portions of the exterior pre-cast will be removed and replaced with new floor to ceiling windows. Additionally, the existing elevators will be replaced, and 1 elevator will be extended to access the new amenity space on 19th
floor. In order to make the 19th floor amenity possible, the Focus construction team will extend an existing elevator core by installing structural steel in and around the top of the current elevator shaft, cutting the ceiling and roof slab for the new taller elevator shaft and car mechanism to be added.
The 1926 West Harrison project builds on the trending revitalization of the Medical District neighborhood. Once complete, the intersection of Harrison Street and Ogden Avenue will offer an upgraded residential option to support the renovated Cook County Hospital and those who live and work in the Medical District neighborhood.
