Recognition for The Atworth at Mellody Farm

12 December 2019

The work that we do at Focus is all about positively impacting lives and respect for the neighborhood that was there before we arrived. We are thrilled that the values which guide our work have earned recognition by the The Home Builders Association of Greater Chicago (HBAGC) for one of our most recent projects, The Atworth at Mellody Farm.

The annual HBAGC Key Awards recognize excellence across several categories and divisions -- housing design, architecture design, interior design, community design, landscape architecture and remodeling for both single family and multifamily projects. The Key Awards have been a pillar in the industry for many years, dating back to the 1970’s when it was dubbed “The Oscars of the Home Building Industry.” Each category has Platinum (1st), Gold (2nd) and Silver (3rd) honors, and additional recognition is given for innovation and creativity through a Crystal Key Award that identifies the best of the best in each category.

We are ecstatic that The Atworth at Mellody Farm recently won both the Platinum Key in Multifamily Housing, as well as the Crystal Key in Multifamily Housing.

The Mellody Farm development sits on 53.5 acres of rich heritage. The property was part of a 1,000+ acre estate and includes the Cuneo Mansions and Gardens built in 1916 by Chicago architect, Benjamin Marshall. In 1937, John Cuneo Sr. bought the property to operate Mellody Farm Dairy, hence the property’s name, Mellody Farm. The Atworth at Mellody Farm includes 260 luxury apartments developed by Focus and Atlantic Residential which are meant to seamlessly integrate into the entire development. Featuring high-end finishes and resort-style amenities, the studio-to-three bedroom units range from 556 to 1,465 square feet and amenities include an outdoor courtyard with firepit, bocce ball court, fitness studio, game room, lounge, and private dining space. We’re proud that we completed the project under budget and were leased out within 10 months of opening while achieving above-market rents. Most of all, we’re proud that this project pays homage to the land and rich history that makes this area so unique and special for the entire community.

A big thank you to The Home Builders Association of Greater Chicago for this fantastic honor. To learn more about the Key Awards, click here. And to partner with Focus, reach out to us today!
