Topping Off 167 Green

17 December 2019

This month, we reached an exciting construction milestone – the official topping off of 167 Green. This means that we have completed the structure to its fullest height and can now begin the process of fully enclosing the building.

Focus hosted a special onsite party to mark the occasion, which included a beam signing where owners, partners and tradesmen and women all had the opportunity to sign the last two beams being installed at the top of the building. A “thank you” lunch from Focus was served to the entire working team, and sub-contractors and owners all donated gifts for a holiday raffle where project workers could win big ticket items like an Amazon Echo, Carhart winter gear, new tools, and even a 55” high- definition TV!

167 Green will total over 750,000 square feet and will feature LEED Gold certified offices with 360-degree floor-to-ceiling glass windows, a unique mews and pedestrian walkway connecting Green Street to Halsted Street, and luxury amenities including a full-size basketball court, rooftop garden, yoga and meditation studios, and more.

167 Green will also be the first office building of this size in Chicago to utilize a new VRF HVAC system. This design build MEP element is used frequently in projects overseas, though is still relatively new technology here in the United States for buildings of this scale and use.

A big congratulations to the entire 167 Green Focus construction team, including Joe Vartanian, Casey Armbrust, and Alberto Gomez.

The office building is slated for full completion in the Fall of 2020 in partnership with Gensler and Shapack Partners.
