Senior Corporate Accountant

Responsibilities

  • Perform all activities related to the corporate accounting function, including timely and accurate financial reporting including financial statements and reporting package, financial analysis, budgets, tax returns and audits
  • Perform all activities related to the investment entity accounting function, including timely and accurate financial reporting including financial statements, financial analysis, budgets, tax returns and audits
  • Prepare the company’s annual operating budgets and mid-year update and provide requested information and analysis; maintain full working knowledge of the process and reports, keeping all providers on schedule
  • Track and monitor all internal and external reporting deadlines and commitments; prepare abstracts from legal documents to assist with effective monitoring
  • Manage month end and year end closing process, financial statement preparation, account analysis and reconciliations, ensuring consistency with GAAP, modified GAAP and tax reporting
  • Process all investment entity capital calls
  • Prepare WIP, backlog and cost to complete schedules; provide cash flow projections for projects
  • Oversee the company’s cash management systems and processes, including online banking, wire transfers, bank reconciliations, credit card and discount programs
  • Ensure timely and accurate payment of corporate and property invoices
  • Assist Controller and CFO overseeing financial operations including maintaining accounting principles, practices, procedures and controls
  • Develop understanding of job cost system and project accounting function and facilitate cross-training with project accountants on corporate accounting tasks to increase efficiency and accuracy with corporate accounting function
  • Maintain the integrity of the accounting software by performing / oversee regular maintenance and reconciliations; implement new software as needed; train all department employees
  • Improve department productivity by working with other Company employees to automate general ledger posting tasks, including but not limited to payroll processing
  • Assist with special projects, including providing management with special reports, as requested

Skills

  • 5-6 years’ experience in corporate accounting at a construction firm strongly preferred
  • Advanced technological skills required
  • Expert in Excel
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Adaptable to change
  • Proven ability to solve complex problems independently
  • Proficiency in Timberline, Procore, or equivalent software strongly preferred

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required, CPA strongly preferred
