Assistant Superintendent

Responsibilities

As an Assistant Superintendent, you'll support the Superintendent in the day-to-day management of the jobsite, helping ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. You'll gain exposure to every phase of construction while building the leadership skills needed to advance your career.

Project Coordination

  • Assist with daily field operations and support the execution of the project schedule.
  • Monitor workforce activity, equipment deliveries, and site logistics.
  • Track jobsite activity and maintain accurate documentation in Procore.
  • Support coordination with subcontractors to keep work progressing according to plan.

Safety Leadership

  • Conduct new worker safety orientations and maintain orientation records.
  • Perform daily and weekly jobsite safety inspections using Procore.
  • Identify and communicate safety concerns while reinforcing Focus safety standards.
  • Maintain jobsite safety resources, including first aid supplies, SDS documentation, and emergency equipment.
  • Verify subcontractor compliance with required safety documentation and toolbox talks.

Jobsite Operations

  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and professional jobsite.
  • Coordinate dumpsters, temporary facilities, water service, and other site logistics.
  • Maintain project documentation, reports, and field records.
  • Assist with meeting preparation, coordination meetings, and daily reports.
  • Photograph construction progress and document field conditions as needed.

Site Security & Environmental Compliance

  • Help protect the project by maintaining fencing, gates, signage, and site security measures.
  • Coordinate visitor access and jobsite check-in procedures.
  • Assist with erosion control inspections, stormwater management, and SWPPP documentation.
  • Monitor dewatering systems and maintain compliance with environmental requirements.

Quality

  • Support quality control inspections throughout construction.
  • Complete inspection checklists and help verify work meets project standards and contract requirements.

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; talk; or hear.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and depth perception. The employee is occasionally required to use hands or fingers to type.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger; handle; or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop; kneel; or crouch.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Other Requirements

  • Minimal travel required. Employee must have a vehicle and possess a valid driver’s license with insurance coverage.

Skills

  • 1-3 years of construction industry experience
  • 1 or more years of construction field experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and Procore software
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Solid written and communication skills
  • A proactive mindset with a willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and commitment to teamwork

Education

  • Degree or certificate in construction management or design.
